DLWS, Day 3 – the end of a great workshop

Posted in Cities, Photography, Travel by Bob Nocek on November 18, 2009

We started our last day of the Digital Landscape Workshop Series at sunrise at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, across from the Statue off Liberty.

Then we roamed SOHO for the moring and shot people at the Farmer’s Market at Union Square.

Then we moved on to Times Square for more experimenting with our Nikon Speedlights.

And so ends my first Digital Landscape Workshop Series. Thanks to Joe, Moose, Kevin, Laurie, and the rest of the gang for a fantastic experience. Goodbye to NYC for now. The shuttle comes at 5:45 a.m.

DLWS, Day 2

Tuesday was all about New Jersey. In the morning, we visited the cliffs of the Palisades north of the George Washington bridge. Sunrise turned out to be a bit of a bust, so we pulled out some Nikon SB-900s and did a little lighting work.

This first one, of yours truly, one was taken by Shawn Heifert, a former Army Airborne Ranger from Reading, PA who now lives and shoots in Savannah, GA. Shawn is in the photo that follows.

In the evening, we headed to Weehawken to watch the lights of Manhattan come on.

DLWS workshop in NYC, Day 1

Posted in Cities, Photography, Travel by Bob Nocek on November 17, 2009

I’m in NYC this week for the Digital Landscape Workshop Series with a great crew – Moose Peterson, Joe McNally, Laurie Excell and Kevin Dobler. They’re showing us Joe McNally’s New York, which on the first day included Central Park, Canal Street in Chinatown, sunset on the Brooklyn Bridge, and some time with the great guys at Engine 9 Ladder 6 – the Chinatown NYFD station known as the Dragon Fighters.

The schedule barely leaves time for posting, but since I haven’t been too active lately, I didn’t want to let this week go by without regular updates. So here are a few from the first day of the incredible experience known as DLWS.
