DLWS, Day 2

Posted in Cities, Photography, Sports, Travel by Bob Nocek on November 18, 2009

Tuesday was all about New Jersey. In the morning, we visited the cliffs of the Palisades north of the George Washington bridge. Sunrise turned out to be a bit of a bust, so we pulled out some Nikon SB-900s and did a little lighting work.

This first one, of yours truly, one was taken by Shawn Heifert, a former Army Airborne Ranger from Reading, PA who now lives and shoots in Savannah, GA. Shawn is in the photo that follows.

In the evening, we headed to Weehawken to watch the lights of Manhattan come on.

High school hockey at Wachovia Arena

Posted in Photography, Sports by Bob Nocek on January 19, 2009

It’s been quite a while between posts lately – not for lack of shooting, but for lack of time. Before I leave town for a week, wanted to add something new. So here are a few from the Casey Classic, the annual High School Hockey Tournament in Wilkes-Barre. It was my first time shooting hockey, and the combination of the speed and the lighting makes for a challenge. But that’s the fun part, isn’t it?
